Brian Christopher Thompson teaches in the areas of music pedagogy, research methods, and Western music history. His research has explored aspects of musical life in the long nineteenth century, music education, and film music. Thompson's work has been published by the University of Illinois Press, the McGill-Queen's UP, W.W. Norton, and other major presses, and in such leading periodicals as the Nineteenth-Century Music Review, Music & Letters, and the Journal of Music History Pedagogy. His current book project, centred around the De Angelis family, explores Italian music and identity in the British Empire.
