It was a coincidence for me to become an anthropology student, but now it’s part of my life. My research interests include ethnicity, migration, the politics of intangible culture heritage and post-socialism. I’ve done fieldwork about the family and social organization of Yao people in Guangdong, the conception of water of Hakka and the revival of traditional charitable organization. After that, I realize China is so complex that I would like to focus it on my next project. My current research is about the relations between the state and the minority society. I plan to study how the state, local government, local elites, the inheritors and the ordinary people negotiate and participate in intangible cultural heritage in China.
