Continuing Education Fund (CEF) Reimbursable Courses

Three courses in the MA Programme are included in the Continuing Education Fund (CEF). Hong Kong residents can get a refund of up to 80% of the tuition fee, upon successful completion of a reimbursable course. Students can get refunds for multiple courses, but only up to a maximum sum of $20,000 per person. To get the refund, they must apply to the CEF before taking the courses and get the reimbursement after finishing the degree.

Eligible applicants should:

  • be Hong Kong residents who have the right of abode or the right to land or to remain in Hong Kong without restriction; or holders of one-way permits from Mainland China (a copy of the one-way permit and the HKID card should be attached to the application form);
  • have enrolled in and paid the tuition fee for a reimbursable course before the course commences; and 
  • age from 18 to 70 at the time of application and on seeking reimbursement of their fees.

Eligible courses:
Course commencement date falling after 21 August 2023 is not eligible to claim reimbursement from CEF.

Second-year part-time students admitted in 2021/22: HK$17,312.5

Applicants need to enroll in and pay the tuition fee before the course commences.

  • Go to General office of Anthropology Department (NAH407 Humanities Building, New Asia College, CUHK) to get the department stamp chop to verify the course commencement.
  • The completed application form with certification by institution / course provider together with copies of supporting documents [Hong Kong Smart Identity Card, one-way permit (if applicable), documentary proof of course fee paid, documentary proof that the applicant has successfully completed the CEF reimbursable course(s), documentary proof of passing the specified benchmark test / examination (if applicable), benchmark test / examination fee receipts (if applicable) and the front page of the applicant’s bank passbook or bank statement showing the name, account number and bank name / bank code] should be submitted to OCEF:

  • Applicants may also place their applications in the drop-in boxes. (Cheung Sha Wan Government Offices / Near the main entrance of the Office of Continuing Education Fund)
  • Eligible applicants will be reimbursed of their fees on successful completion of whole program. For more information, please refer to the CEF website.

Note:
* Labour and Welfare Bureau has introduced the following major amendments to the eligibility of claiming course fees reimbursement under Continuing Education Fund (CEF). They are:

  1. CEF claimants would be eligible for fee reimbursement only upon their successful completion of the whole course .They may claim reimbursement upon completion of a module only if the module is registered individually on the list of CEF reimbursable courses.
  2. CEF claimants are required to attain the overall mark of either 50% or such higher percentage of assessment(s) as prescribed for the course (whichever is higher) as assessed by whichever method approved by the Secretary for Labour and Welfare (including any examination and assignment requirements with approved weighting) before they are eligible for fee reimbursement.
  3. CEF claimants are required to attend no less than 70% of the contactable hours of the course or such higher attendance requirement as prescribed for the course (whichever is higher) to meet the fee reimbursement criteria.

Reimbursement:
Each successful applicant will be provided with a Reimbursement Claim Form (RCF) which should be submitted after successful completion of the whole program and, in any event, within two years from the date the application was approved.

A claimant should:

  • Complete the RCF;
  • Go to General office of Anthropology Department (NAH 407, New Asia College, CUHK) with (i) your transcript and (ii) tuition fee receipt to get certify with department chop,
  • Apply the Proof of Successful Completion of the Course from Anthropology Department, CUHK
  • Submit to the OCEF the completed and certified RCF together with copies of supporting documents (fee receipts, documentary proof that the claimant has successfully completed the courses and the front page of his/her bank passbook/statement showing the name, account number and bank name / bank code).
