*Apart from the requirements of major programme, students should also observe and satisfy other non-major requirements. For details, please visit the website of AQS.
Concentrations
The Department of Anthropology offers 7 (2018 or before) / 6 (2019 onwards) concentrations, which students are welcome to choose from in planning out their courses. This is voluntary, but encouraged. Once you have chosen a concentration and taken the courses you need in order to meet its requirements, the Department will give you a certificate attesting to this. Please download and submit the form to the Department Office. (This form is applicable for students admitted in 2017 and before)
For students who are admitted in 2018, please refer to this link; students who are admitted in 2019 and thereafter, please refer to this link. Once you have chosen a concentration and taken the courses you need in order to meet its requirements, the concentration(s) will be shown on your official transcript after your declaration in CUSIS in your final year of study. Please refer to the Registration and Examinations Section (RES) website for application procedure in CUSIS. For students graduating in Term 1, the application period is usually in October, for students graduating in Term 2, the application period is usually in January – February.

Students are required to complete a minimum of five courses in order to be eligible for a concentration. (Aside from these, other courses may also sometimes be accepted for a course concentration with the approval of the Curriculum Committee; please see Prof. Kipnis).
You are encouraged to begin thinking about concentrations early on, in your first year of study. There is, however, no need to formally declare the concentration until your final year of study, when you will have taken all the courses you need. When you have taken all the courses you need for a concentration, please download and submit the form to the Department Office.
