WS Teacher’s message #8

Dear students,

Reading Rabbit

As the Year of the Rabbit begins, have you thought about how you can make the most of it by celebrating the New Year together? Rabbits are famous for their flexibility. Being a flexible thinker is no accident, it takes effort. One of the ways to train your thinking is to read. Reading is a lonely thing to do alone, but in reading we touch the world; in reading we experience loving and being loved; in reading we transcend the bonds of time and place; in reading we find spiritual companionship and comfort. Those who know the joy of reading will not be afraid to be alone. This Chinese New Year, I have been reading several books in solitude: “The Philosophy of Restlessness” by Ichiro Kishimi, “There is a Lonely Star in the Sky” by Amanda Cheung, and “Hong Kong TYPE” by Dung Kai Cheung. You may learn something about a person from their choice of books. You may even be able to strike up a conversation about “books” with someone you have never talked to before. Start the Year of the Rabbit, wish you all will enjoy the benefits of reading.
