Crocher Summer Course 2013
Cell & Developmental Biology Research
-
Five laboratory sessions on advanced Cell Biology research technologies were arranged in the afternoons of August 12 – 13 and the whole day of August 15 – 16 in Science Centre, CUHK.
-
The workshops were organized to demonstrate the latest technologies for research applications, such as patch clamp ion channel analysis, spinning disk confocal imaging, data analysis using Imaris software, high-pressure freezing/ freeze substitution TEM analysis, transient expression in plant cells as well as stable expression in animal & plant cell lines (For detailed programme overview and protocol book for lab session, please refer to Appendix ii and iv respectively).
-
Each laboratory session comprised introduction talk, demonstration and practical session. Participants not only gained hands-on experience with the sophisticated technologies, but also inspirations in their expeditions in the world of Cell & Developmental Biology research through discussions.
-
Participants were encouraged to use their own research samples for analysis. Around 30% of participants brought their own samples to CSC.
-
Feedback from the participants was all affirmative.
