Programme

The School of Life Sciences at The Chinese University of Hong Kong offers research postgraduate programmes in five different disciplines, which provide advanced training for students to pursue teaching and research careers in life sciences. health and related fields of study.

MPhil-PhD in Environmental Science

MPhil Stream
The programme is research-oriented. Students are required to take a minimum of 12 units of lecture courses, 24 units of thesis research courses and 3 units of seminar courses. A total of at least 39 units together with a written thesis are required for the programme.

PhD Stream
The programme is research-oriented. Students are required to take a minimum of 12 units of lecture courses, 60 units of thesis research courses and 5 units of seminar courses. Student must pass the candidacy examination within 24 months from first entry.

A total of at least 77 units together with a written thesis are required for the programme. Each student will submit a brief written progress report annually.

 

Qualification for Admission*

Applicants must meet the general qualifications required for admission to the Graduate School and should normally possess a BSc degree in Environmental Science, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry or an related discipline.
