The Dream of a Scholarship Recipient
Rachel Leung, Student of School of Public Health
The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) has been awarding scholarships to university students in recognition of their outstanding academic performance and commitment to serve the community. On 28 May 2015, the HKJC granted this esteemed scholarship to 36 tertiary students of nine participating institutions, and I am honored to be one of the recipients and received the HKJC Scholarship 2013/14 and 2014/15.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the HKJC for granting me this scholarship for my undergraduate studies. The scholarship not only impels me to keep striving for academic excellence, but also strengthens my passion to give back to society, and heightens my aspiration to engage in more philanthropic work on healthcare related aspects. I previously paid a visit to a village in Anhui and reached out the needy in Cambodia for medical support. I will further my study in Public Health to dedicate myself to serving the general public in future.
I am grateful for my parents’ unfailing support, teachers’ guidance, and the generosity of the HKJC that enables me to achieve my dreams to build a better Hong Kong as well as healthier living environments in developing countries. I am excited to join the Jockey Club Scholars Alumni Association with unbounded enthusiasm and will develop myself to the fullest.
