Biography

Dr WONG Wai Kai (黃偉佳) is an assistant lecturer in the School of Biomedical Sciences, The Chinese University of Hong Kong since 2012. He received his BSc (Biology, 2nd Class Honours) and PhD (Anatomy) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research interest is on regeneration of the nervous system. He studied the role of different heat-shock proteins in neurons and glial cells under the influence of growth factors in regeneration of central nervous tissues. He is involved in teaching of Anatomy, Physiology in undergraduate courses of Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Chinese Medicine, Pharmacy and Biomedical Engineering Programmes. He is interested in teaching Gross Anatomy, Histology, Neuroanatomy and Neurosciences.

  1. Neurosciences, ranging from histological to anatomical architecture of the nervous system, behaviour, psychological functioning and disorders of the brain. Regeneration of the central nervous system.
  2. Development and application of 3D-scanned anatomy models with augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) in teaching and learning.
  3. Academic advising and student support and sharing groups.
  1. Faculty’s Best Teacher of the Year (Medicine Year 1) in 2019 and 2020.
