This course aims at offering opportunities for local secondary students to be trained in astronomy and thereby enhancing their interest in science. Students are encouraged to share what they have learnt with their schoolmates by organizing activities about astronomy in their schools so that more students can enjoy the interest. To achieve the goals, this course covers both theories and practical training so that students will not only acquire knowledge of astronomy, but also develop independent thinking skills and capability in organizing activities.

「中學生天文訓練計劃」由香港太空館、香港中文大學物理系及香港天文學會合辦，目的是讓本地中學生有機會接受較全面的天文學訓練，從中培養及深化其對自然科學的興趣。另一方面，我們亦希望參與計劃的同學能將所學回饋所屬學校，在校內協助推廣天文活動，讓更多同學能夠領略箇中樂趣。為達致上述目的，計劃內容將同時兼顧理論及實踐兩方面，務求讓同學不單獲得天文學上的知識及訓練，並且培養出獨立處理問題及組織活動的能力。
