Distinguished Visitor Vikram Chandra Comes to Morningside

This week, critically acclaimed author Vikram Chandra has taken up residence at Morningside College as the term’s distinguished visitor. Writer of Sacred Games, a novel set in Mumbai, and Geek Sublime, a work of nonfiction about the culture of computer coding, Mr Chandra sat down with students to talk about the creative and code writing processes. The eventful week also included a communal dinner talk entitled “Chitram: the Poetry of Play,” which explored ancient Sanskrit poetry that contains images and alternative poems, and a public lecture entitled “Language, Meaning, and Sacred Grammar,” which drew connections between ancient Indian linguistic traditions and computer programming languages. Each year Morningside strives to bring Distinguished Visitors to campus, and we thank Vikram Chandra for making this such an enjoyable programme!
