Students Build Greenhouse in Remote Yi Village

2015年64日

Nineteen Morningside students flew to Yunnan, China last week for a College summer service trip to build a greenhouse in a remote Yi Village in the mountains. Not only did students build the community’s second greenhouse, but they also interviewed villagers about their needs and performed a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis on the original greenhouse. During their six days in Yunnan, students had the chance to visit Buddhist grottos in Shaxi and spent one night with a local family.

This summer, Morningside College offered four service trips for students as part of the General Education programme. Upon their return to Hong Kong, students will enroll in the Service Learning course, which will ask them to critically analyze and reflect upon their service work through a journal, essay, and poster.
