Exchange and Visits
The department actively seeks collaborations with industry partners to offer visits, summer internships, exchanges, and overseas visit programmes to our students to boarden their horizons.
Overseas Exchange
Our students are open to plentiful opportunities for overseas exchange. The Office of Academic Links (OAL) of the University offers abundant resources for potential students planning for short term or year long exchange programmes in top universities worldwide and the Office of Admission and Financial Aid (OAFA) also provides financial assistance and scholarship for students. Since 2013-14, Department of Information Engineering has launched the "Information Engineering Award for Academic Exchange (IE Award)" to IE and MIE students with good academic results.
The following lists the exchange destinations of our students in recent years:
United States
Canada

Course and Unit Exemptions
Students may apply for credit transfer or course exemptions with their result of courses taken by students in approved Exchange Programmes. For further details and application procedure, please refer to the Registration and Examination Section (RES) of the University.
Company Visits
Guided by a teaching staff, students form small groups of 5 to 8, to prepare for visit to a company related to related engineering discipline. The Department has made a concerted effort in this exercise to identify companies with known contacts so that both parties can benefit from the exercise. Before the visit, the students have to carry out background study of the company and the sector it operates. The goal is to broaden students’ horizon beyond the classroom, and to acquire a deeper look into the operation of a real company in the engineering discipline. After the visit, students are required to submit a report summarizing their findings and share their experiences with their peers in class.
