JUPAS (JS4446)

  • Secondary school students taking Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary School Examination (HKDSE) should apply for admission through the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS).
  • Starting from the 2022 entry, the Faculty of Engineering will adopt programme-based admission, which enables our undergraduate students to enjoy greater flexibility in planning their study pathways. Applicants need only to choose "Information Engineering / IERGN" of CUHK (JUPAS Code: JS4446) in their JUPAS applications.

Minimum Admission Requirements (applicable to HKDSE applicants for 2022-23 onwards)

  • Admission is based on the Best 5 HKDSE subject results with subject weighting. For details of subject weighting, please refer to the table below.

Non-JUPAS (Year 1 Admission)

  • Local applicants who are not using the results of Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) for admissions purpose will be considered as Non-JUPAS applicants.
  • These qualifications include Associate Degree / Higher Diploma, HKALE, GCE AL/International AL, IB, SAT/AP and other overseas qualifications for university admission.
  • Applicants should have attained an acceptable level of proficiency in the English and Chinese languages.
  • Applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Non-JUPAS (Senior Year)

  • Local students who possess Associate Degree or Higher Diploma qualifications will be considered as Non-JUPAS applicants and can apply for senior year admission.
  • Applicants shall be eligible to apply for admission if they have successfully completed a local course of study leading to the qualification of associate degree / higher diploma, and have attained an acceptable level of proficiency in the English and Chinese languages.
  • Applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Applicants admitted in the senior year of the programme concerned are generally expected to complete their undergraduate studies in 2 years.

International Students

  • Non-local students who require a student visa / entry permit to study in Hong Kong can apply through the International Students Admissions Scheme.
  • The applicants must possess overseas qualifications such as GCE AL/International AL, IB, SAT/AP, or other high school qualifications from a recognised non-local institution which qualifies them for admission to a university in the country / region where such qualification is originated.
  • Applications will be considered on a case by case basis.

Admission (applicable for broad-based engineering students admitted to CUHK in 2021-22)

  • The admission to the IERG is done at the end of the first year of undergraduate studies at CUHK through major allocation.
  • Students interested in the IERG programme should select your preference for a combined IERG/MIEG choice and then indicate IERG as your intended major.
