2011. 08. 30IE won six prestigious Hong Kong Ph.D. Fellowship awards in 2011-12 -- the most in Hong Kong!
The Department of Information Engineering won an amazing six prestigious HKPF awards out of a total of about 110 PhD Fellowships awarded in Hong Kong in 2011-12! This is the most among all Hong Kong institutions. The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) was established by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong in 2009, aiming at attracting the best and brightest students in the world to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong's institutions. The Fellowship offers a monthly stipend of HK$20,000 (approximately US$2,600) and a conference and research related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (approximately US$1,300) per year to each awardee for a period of three/four years for first degree/higher degree applicants. Applicants must demonstrate outstanding qualities of academic performance, research ability / potential, communication and interpersonal skills, and leadership abilities.
Congratulations to our outstanding winners, LUO Ping (ME, Sun Yat-sen U.), LUO Yuan (ME, BUPT), SUN Yi (BS, Tsinghua U.), WANG Limin (BS, Nanjing U.), WANG Taotao (MS, BUPT) and YAN Jianzhou (BS, Tsinghua U.). In addition, QIU Shi (BS, Tsinghua University) won an award in 2010-11. All together IE has won seven HKPF awards since the scheme was started in 2010."
