1. Prof. Tse Lap-ah Shelly, assistant professor in the School of Public Health and Primary Care, was appointed as an advisor on Clinical Epidemiology of the Editorial Board of the Hong Kong Medical Journal for two years from January 2011.  She has also been appointed as an honorary consultant in the Family Medicine and General Out-Patient Clinics in Kowloon Central Cluster of the Hospital Authority for three years from 1 November 2010, and an advisor of the Centre for Community Care with effect from November 2010.


2. Prof. Yu Tak-sun Ignatius, associate director (research) and professor in the School of Public Health and Primary Care, has been elected as the editor of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine for two years from 17 December 2010. He has also been appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR as a member of the Advisory Council on the Environment for two years from 1 January 2011 and has been appointed as a member of the Working Party for Accreditation of Certification Bodies of the Accreditation Advisory Board from April 2011 to 15 March 2014, and as chairman of the Task Force on Occupational Health and Safety Management System of the Working Party on Accreditation of Certification Bodies of the Accreditation Advisory Board from April 2011 to April 2014.


3. Prof. Lu Lie-dan Tracey, associate professor in the Department of Anthropology, has been re-appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR as a member of the Antiquities Advisory Board for two years from 1 January 2011.


4. Prof. Shen Xu-hui Simon, adjunct associate professor in the Centre for East Asian Studies, has been re-appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR as a member of the Antiquities Advisory Board for two years from 1 January 2011.  He has also been appointed by the Secretary for the Environment as a member of the Environmental Campaign Committee for two years from 1 January 2011.


5. Prof. Ho Pui-yin, associate professor in the Department of History, has been appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR as a member of the Antiquities Advisory Board for two years from 1 January 2011.


6. Dr. Ting Sun-pao Joseph, adjunct professor in the Department of History, has been appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR as a member of the Antiquities Advisory Board for two years from 1 January 2011.


7. Prof. Chau Kwai-cheong, adjunct associate professor in the Department of Geography and Resource Management, has been appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR as the deputy chairman of the Advisory Council on the Environment for two years from 1 January 2011.


8. Prof. Fung Tung, associate pro-vice-chancellor and professor in the Department of Geography and Resource Management, has been appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR as a member of the Advisory Council on the Environment for two years from 1 January 2011.


9. Mr. Leung Kwong-hon Philip, director of the Information Technology Services Centre, has been re-appointed by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development as a member of the Consumer Council for two years from 1 January 2011.


10. Prof. Meng Mei-ling Helen, professor in the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management, has been appointed by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development as a member of the Hong Kong Productivity Council for two years from 1 January 2011.


11. Dr. Kan Fu Mee-yuk Shirley, senior instructor and associate director (PAC Programme) in the School of Accountancy, has been appointed by the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury as a member of the Investigation Panel A of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants for two years from 1 January 2011.


12. Prof. Lee Pui-leung Rance, master-designate of Wu Yee Sun College and Emeritus Professor of Sociology, has been re-appointed by the Secretary for Labour and Welfare as the chairman of the Advisory Committee on Social Work Training and Manpower Planning for one year from 9 January 2011.


13. Prof. Yeung Yue-man, Emeritus Professor of Geography, has been re-appointed as the chairman of the Pan-Pearl River Delta Panel under the Central Policy Unit for one year from 12 January 2011.


14. The Rev. Prof. Lo Lung-kwong, director and professor in the Divinity School of Chung Chi College, has been appointed as a member of the Disciplinary Committee Panel of the Social Workers Registration Board for three years from 16 January 2011.


15. Prof. Lam Chiu-wa Linda, professor in the Department of Psychiatry, has been appointed by the Secretary for Labour and Welfare as a member of the Guardianship Board for three years from 1 February 2011.


16. Prof. Lee Tze-fan Diana, Professor of Nursing and director of the Nethersole School of Nursing, has been appointed as a member of the Health and Medical Development Advisory Committee (HMDAC) for two years from 1 March 2011 and appointed as a member of the Nursing Council of Hong Kong for three years from 15 June 2011. She has also been appointed by the Secretary for Food and Health as a member of the Hong Kong Advisory Council on AIDS for three years from 1 August 2011.


17. Prof. Japhet Sebastian Law, professor in the Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics, has been re-appointed by the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury as a member of the Disciplinary Panel A of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants for two years from 1 February 2011.


18. Prof. Yeung Chung-kwong, adjunct professor in the Institute of Chinese Medicine, has been appointed by the Secretary for Food and Health as a member of the Health and Medical Development Advisory Committee (HMDAC) for two years from 1 March 2011.


19. Prof. Lee Shui-shan, Professor of Infectious Diseases and deputy director of the Stanley Ho Centre for Emerging Infectious Diseases, has been appointed by the Secretary for Food and Health Bureau as a member of the Grant Review Board for the Health and Health Services Research Fund and the Research Fund for the Control of Infectious Diseases for a period of two years from 1 February 2011.


20. Prof. Wong Tak-jun, Dean of Business Administration, has been invited by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants to serve as a member of the Professional Qualifications Accountability Board for 2011.


21. Prof. Albert Lee, professor in the School of Public Health and Primary Care, has been re-appointed as a member of the Community Investment and Inclusion Fund Committee for two years from 1 April 2011.

Dr. Wu Po-him Philip, adjunct professor in the Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics, has been re-appointed as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund for two years from 1 April 2011, and re-appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR as chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Lord Wilson Heritage Trust for two years from 1 April 2011.

24. Prof. Leung Tak-yeung, professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, has been appointed by the Secretary for Food and Health as a member of the Midwives Council of Hong Kong for three years from 14 March 2011.


25. Prof. Wong Chi-sum, professor in the Department of Management, has been appointed by the Permanent Secretary for Education as a member of the Committee on Management and Supervisory Training of the Vocational Training Council for two years from 1 April 2011.


26. Dr. Chui Pui-ling Alice, director (PAC Programme) in the School of Accountancy, has been appointed by the Permanent Secretary for Education as a member of the Accountancy Training Board of the Vocational Training Council for two years from 1 April 2011.


27. Prof. Lai Yee-ching Kelly has been appointed by the Secretary for Food and Health as a member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal for two years from 15 April 2011.

38. Prof. Wong Nai-ching Henry, Professor of Chemistry and pro-vice-chancellor, has been appointed as a member of the Research Grants Council for two years from 1 July 2011.  He has also been appointed as a Senior Consultant of Bioindustry in Shenzhen (深圳市生物產業高級顧問) from June 2011.


39. Prof. Kung Hsiangfu, Professor of Virology and director of the State Key Laboratory in Oncology in South China (CUHK), has been appointed as a Senior Consultant of Bioindustry in Shenzhen (深圳市生物產業高級顧問) from June 2011.


40. Prof. Sung Jao-yiu Joseph, Vice-Chancellor, has been appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR as a member of the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission for two years from 1 July 2011.


41. Prof. Chan Yan-keung Thomas, professor in the Division of Clinical Pharmacology of the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, has been re-appointed by the Secretary for Food and Health as a member of Pharmacy and Poisons Board for two years from 4 July 2011.

Prof. Ma Lai-chong Joyce, chairperson of the Department of Social Work, has been elected as a member of the Board of Directors, International Family Therapy Association for three years from 1 July 2011.  She has also been appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR as the Justice of the Peace    from 1 July 2011.


43. Prof. Cheung Nim-kwan, honorary professor in the Faculty of Engineering, has been re-appointed as a member of the Research Grants Council for two years from 1 July 2011.


44. Prof. Chan Ngai-hang, Professor of Statistics and chairman of Department of Statistics, has been appointed as a member of the Risk Management Committee of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited for two years from 1 July 2011.


45. Prof. Kenneth Young, Professor of Physics and master of C W Chu College, has been re-appointed by the Financial Secretary as a member of the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation on an ad personam basis for two years from 1 July 2011.


46. Prof. Ho Wing-shing John, associate professor in the School of Life Sciences, has been appointed by the Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene of the HKSAR as a member of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Amendment to Food Adulteration (Metallic Contamination) Regulations from 11 July 2011.


47. Prof. Fung Ka-yiu Michael, professor in the Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics, has been appointed as a lay member of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Panel for three years from 1 September 2011.

Prof. Lin Hui, professor in the Department of Geography and Resource Management and director of the Institute of Space and Earth Information Science, has been appointed as a member of the First Session of the Scientific Committee of the International Center on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage under the Auspices UNESCO (聯合國教科文組織國際自然與文化遺產空間技術中心第一屆科學委員會委員).  He has also been appointed as a member of the National Space Science Expert Committee (國家空間科學專家委員會委員).

5. Prof. Chiu Wai-kwun Rossa, professor in the Department of Chemical Pathology, has won the 2011 IFCC Young Investigator Award from the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC).


6. Prof. Chiu Fung-kum Helen, Professor of Psychiatry and chairman of the Department of Psychiatry, has been selected by the Board of Directors of the International Psychogeriatric Association (IPA) to receive the 2011 Distinguished Service to IPA Award on 6 September 2011.
