校園建設與環境保護 8 4 CAMPU SDEVELOPMEN T AN DENVIRONMENTA L PROTECTIO N 新學生宿舍已開展地基工程 Foundation work for a new hostel for New Asia College 至於高危度實驗室綜合大樓的初步設計、地盤勘探和成本預 算，已經呈交敎資會審批。 有宿位三百個的逸夫書院新學生宿舍，第一期工程已完竣並 入伙多時，第二期工程的進度也十分理想。位於新亞書院 的同規模學生宿舍，地基工程已經展開，而聯合書院新宿舍 的詳細設計亦已完成。 在醫院管理局的支持下，公共衛生學院大樓已經平頂，內部 裝修工程即將展開。 改建、加建及改善工程 是年敎資會批准開展十項改建、加建及改善工程，包括翻新 崇基神學樓及聯合鄭楝材樓，改良安全設施，評估多幅斜 坡的穩定性，以及更換供水系統。 校方獲得其他非政府資助，於同年翻新昆楝樓和為該樓加建 一部升降機，亦在王福元樓、陳國本樓及信和樓的天台及 露台擴建，又於十一幢學生宿舍加裝空調，並改善大學的食 水及沖廁供水系統的效能。其他獲資助開展的建築項目 有： P r e l i m i n a ry building design, site investigation, and cost estimates f o r th e Purpose-Designed Centralized Science ( H i gh Risk) Laboratories Building were submitted t o th e U G C f o r f u ll a p p r o v a l. Phase on e construction o f a 300-place hostel o n Shaw campus f o r undergraduates was completed f o r occupancy f o r some time whereas phase t w o was ma k i ng good progress. F o u n d a t i on w o r k f or a similar hostel o n N e w Asia campus began, wh i le th e detailed design o f another hostel f o r U n i t ed College was finalized during th e year. W i t h th e support o f the Ho s p i t al A u t h o r i t y, concreting o f the superstructure f o r th e School o f Public H e a l th Building and A u d i t o r i um wa s substantially completed. Fitting-out w o r ks w o u l d soon f o l l o w. Alteration, Addition, and improvement Works Some 1 0 items o f alteration, addition, and i mp r o v eme nt w o r ks were approved b yth e U G C during th e year, including th e renovation o f the Theology Building o n C h u ng C h i campus and th e T . C. Cheng B u i l d i ng o n U n i t ed campus, safety enhancement wo r k s , stability assessment o n mo re slope features, and the replacement o f water mains. Meantime, f u n d i ng f r o m other sources was secured t o enable th e C h an K w a n T u n g Inter-University H a l l t o b e completely renovated w i t h th e installation o f a n elevator, and f o r a n extension t o b e incorporated o n th e r o of and terrace o f the W o n g F o o Y u a n Building, C h an K o u B un Building, and Sino Building. It also enabled air - conditioning t o b e installed i n 1 1 existing student hostels,fresh and flushing water supply plants and systems t o b e upgraded, and th e f o l l o w i ng construction projects t o proceed: • Setting u p th e Thomas T . T . C h en Amenities Centre a t th e T . C. Cheng Building; • W i d e n i ng C h u ng C h i Road and i mp r o v i ng it s drainage arrangement; • Erecting a security outpost o v e r l o o k i n g Eastern Campus; • F i t t i ng ou t th e L i W a i C h u n Building;
