Y a n H o u m i n , p r o f e s s o r i n t h e D e p a r t m e nt o f Systems E n g i n e e r i ng a n d E n g i n e e r i ng M a n a g e m e n t , a n d Dr. T a n Sitong, postdoctoral fellow i n the department, received the Best Paper A w a rd fo r Operations E n g i n e e r i ng by the I n s t i t u te o f I n d u s t r i a l Engineers i n January 2005. Their paper was entitled ‘Designing a n Assembly Process w i t h Stochastic M a t e r i al A r r i v a l s ' a n d i t w a s p u b l i s h e d i n IIE Transactions (Vol.35, 2003, 803-815).
