Professor Rossa Chiu of the Chemical Pathology Department recently received major awards from two academic bodies of international renown. In both instances there were candidates from around the world, but only one award was made.
Professor Chiu was presented with the 2011 International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) Young Investigator Award, being the first scientist to receive this newly-created honour. She also won the Professors’ Prize from the Association of Academic Heads of Clinical Biochemistry Departments in the UK, being in the footsteps of Professor Dennis Lo, who was a recipient in an earlier year.
