Studies in Chinese Linguistics (SCL), is uniquely positioned as an international journal dedicated to publishing high quality research papers on comparative studies of Chinese grammar, which serves as an international forum for parametric studies aimed at enriching our understanding of Chinese.

SCL has been a leading journal in its field in Hong Kong as well as in the Greater China Region since its first publication in 1980 by the T.T. Ng Chinese Language Research Centre of the Institute of Chinese Studies. In this issue (Volume 33 Number 1), the journal contains three major articles: 'Poverty of Stimulus: Unfinished Business' by Prof. Noam Chomsky; 'de in Mandarin ↔ e in Taiwanese' by Prof Li Yen-hui Audrey and 'Adjectival Modification in Mandarin: Evidence for the Adjunction Analysis' by Prof. Cheung Chi-hang Candice.
