A research team led by Prof. Li Kam-tao Philip, chief of division of nephrology and honorary professor, and Prof. Kwan Ching-ha Bonnie, associate professor, Department of Medicine and Therapeutics at CUHK has pioneered the use of an innovative technology—Bioimpedance Spectroscopy (BIS) to detect end stage renal failure patients’ fluid overload at an early stage, allowing timely interventions for improving their cardiovascular health and reduce the risk of death in due course.
