Dr. Stephen M. Young, Consul General of the United States of America in Hong Kong and Macau, delivered a lecture on CUHK campus on 'America’s Renewed Commitment to Asia and What it Means for Hong Kong and Macau' on 12 April, attracting over 100 staff and students, members of the political, academic and public sectors to attend.
In the lecture, Dr. Young stated that it was time for the US to adjust its strategic focus on the Asia-Pacific region again although it put tremendous resources and devoted much attention to the wars with Iraq and Afghanistan for the last decade. He envisioned that the US and the people of the Asia-Pacific can find more ways to work together to build a secure, open, free, transparent, and fair environment in the region. The effect will be enormous and the benefit to people, including those in Hong Kong and Macau, will see no limits.
