The Centre for Enhancing English Learning and Teaching (CEELT), Faculty of Education organized the In-service Programme for Guangdong English Teachers 2012 during the period from 8 to 28 July, continuing professional development collaboration between the Guangdong education community and the Faculty of Education. The programme entered its second consecutive year and offered comprehensive activities for 40 English educators from the primary school sector in Guangdong.

Participants attended a series of workshops, which covered a range of professional and pedagogical knowledge and skills, including ‘Consolidating English teaching skills’, ‘Catering for learner diversity’, etc., conducted by teacher training experts of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. School visits with lesson observation and sharing sessions were also arranged, helping the participants to keep abreast of the latest trends of English language learning and teaching in Hong Kong. Their learning experiences were concluded in their action plan, in which Prof. Barley Mak, programme director and the director of CEELT, guided them through the process of putting practice into action.
