The CUHK Jockey Club Bowel Cancer Education Centre offered bowel cancer screening to a total of 7,914 people from May 2008 to June 2011. From 3,343 participants who had undergone colonoscopy, 985 (29.5%) were diagnosed as having adenoma or advanced neoplasm, which may develop into cancer. The centre recommends that territory-wide bowel cancer screening be introduced to reduce bowel cancer-related deaths.
