Prof. Malcolm Underwood (left), Head, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery of the Department of Surgery, was conferred the first Distinguished Surgeon Award of College of Surgeons, Singapore, in recognition of his contributions to the development of surgery in Singapore by running training course for trainees and examiners, as well as helping to establish an externally validated examination. The award was first established last year and five surgeons were honoured. The conferment ceremony was held in November 2012.
