50 機械與自動化工程學系王昌凌教授因推 動計算機應用於工程領域的重大貢獻， 榮獲美國機械工程師學會頒發二零零九年 「工程領域的計算機和信息科學」傑出青 年工程師獎。 太空與地球信息科學研究所所長林琿教 授獲亞洲遙感協會頒發傑出貢獻獎，是首 位獲此殊榮的香港科學家。 中大博文講座教授、數學科學研究所所 長丘成桐教授獲沃爾夫基金會頒授二零 一零年沃爾夫數學獎，是第二位獲此榮譽 的華人。 建築學院吳恩融教授因「身體力行，實踐 了人與人之間完全出於善意和自願的關 懷」，榮獲香港紅十字會與香港電台合辦 的第三屆香港人道年獎。 知識轉移 大學教育資助委員會指出知識轉移是高等 院校除教學和研究外的第三使命。為進一 步把大學研究所得的高新科技及專業知識 應用於業界和社區，中大於二零零九年十 月成立知識轉移辦公室及知識轉移項目基 金。在二零零九至一零年新增撥款支持下， 一系列服務社會的項目得以開展，包括： 推廣防跌活動 矯形外科及創傷學系致力在社區推廣防跌 和防骨折的認知，總計至是年度已藉舉辦 各種活動向近三萬人傳播有關知識，為多 達六千名長者提供流動檢查、跌倒危機評 估、平衡力測試及骨質密度檢查服務，以 及提供老年脆性骨折全面復康計劃，並在 沙田設立了十一間防跌診所及中心，服務 多達二千六百名病人。 心血管健康資訊網站 為加強市民對冠心病、中風和高血壓的 預防和控制，那打素護理學院設立了「護 您健康──心血管健康資訊網站」，免費 為市民提供醫療保健知識，並支援互助小 組的交流活動，且推廣至病人互助團體、 社區復康網絡和有關的專業護理協會。 Prof. Charlie C.L. Wang of the Mechanical and Automation Engineering Department received the 2009 CIE Young Engineer Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers for making outstanding contributions to progress in the application of computers in engineering. Prof. Lin Hui, director of the Institute of Space and Earth Information Science, was awarded an Outstanding Contribution Prize by the Asian Association on Remote Sensing. He is the first Hong Kong scholar to be honoured with this award. The Wolf Foundation awarded Prof. Yau Shing-tung, Distinguished Professor-at-Large and director of the Institute of Mathematical Science, the 2010 Wolf Prize in Mathematics. He is the second Chinese to be awarded this prize. Prof. Ng Yan-yung Edward, professor in the School of Architecture, was honoured with the third Hong Kong Humanity Award, co-organized by the Hong Kong Red Cross and Radio Television Hong Kong, for serving as ‘a paragon demonstrating how people can care about others out of pure voluntary and disseminating the spirit of humanity to different sectors in our community’. Knowledge Transfer Knowledge transfer was identified by the University Grants Committee as the third pillar of the core activities of higher institutions apart from teaching and research. To strengthen its endeavours in knowledge transfer, the University established the Knowledge Transfer Unit in October 2009 and set up the Knowledge Transfer Project Fund. In 2009–10, a number of knowledge transfer projects serving society on various fronts were launched. They included: Training Programmes on Fall and Fracture Prevention The Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology has dedicated itself to the promotion of fall and fragility fracture prevention in the community through various programmes. Up to the year under review, it has disseminated fall and fracture prevention knowledge to almost 30,000 people, and provided services, including mobile checkup, fall risk assessment, balance test and bone density assessment, to more than 6,000 senior citizens, and 王昌凌教授（右） Prof. Charlie C.L.
