Fellowships and Scholarships (8) From The Asia Foundation a grant of US$12,702 for organizing the 1983/84 Luce Scholars Orientation Programme at the Univer sity. (9) From the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia a grant of US$12,000 to sponsor three students of the People's Republic of China for their first-year work in the Master's programme in Comparative Literature and Language o f the University. (10) From the Croucher Foundation the following grants: (a) About £2,500 for a Senior Lecturer in Biology to visit London and to carry out research at the Imperial College of Science and Technology; (b) HK$ 15,000 each year for The Croucher Foundation Studentship in 1982 and 1983; (c) HK$ 12,000 as laboratory expenses for four new holders o f the Croucher Studentship in 1983/84. (14) From the Chou's Foundation a donation of HK$20 , 000 in support of the Student Campus Work Scheme for 1983/84. (15) From the University of California, Santa Barbara a donation of US$2,223.01 to cover the partial cost o f the housing and faculty support for Professor Chi-yun Chen. (16) From Dr. Hsu Hong Yen a further donation of US$2,100 to the Chinese Medicinal Materials Research Centre, in partial support of the traineeship for Mr. Harry Peck. (17) From the Swire Loxley Ltd. a donation of HK$9 , 000 for a Lecturer of the Department of Medicine to attend the meeting of the British Society o f Gastroenterology in England in April 1984.
