The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) organized the third “The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholars Roundtable Discussion” on Monday, 25 February 2019.  The event was graced by the presence of Ms Karen Cheung and Mr Cheung Wai-hing, Trustees of The D. H. Chen Foundation (the Foundation), Mr Alan Chow, Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Professor Wong Suk-ying, Associate Vice-President and Director of Admissions and Financial Aid of CUHK, and Ms Janet Chow, Director of Institutional Advancement of CUHK.  Six scholars shared with the distinguished guests their university lives and overseas exchange experiences at the roundtable discussion. The insightful sharing and discussion continued at the dinner reception hosted by Professor Rocky Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK.

Aiming to relieve students’ financial burden and foster their personal growth, the Foundation established “The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholarship Program” in 2015 to award a maximum of twenty outstanding undergraduate students from four local universities annually.  This academic year, six outstanding CUHK students are honoured to receive the Scholarship. Carrying the prestigious title of “The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholars”, all scholarship recipients achieved excellent academic performances and took active role in social services.  Scholars are offered a wide range of activities by the Foundation to broaden their social exposure, including social services, mentorship programme, annual reception and roundtable meetings, so as to contribute to the society in the future.

The 14th CUHK Golf Day was successfully held on Wednesday, 23 January 2019 at the Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling. The event continued to receive great support from CUHK alumni and friends, raising over $2.7 million for the long term development of the University and its Colleges, and enriching the “CUHK Golf Day Scholarship”.

Officiated at the Tee-off Ceremony were Professor Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President of CUHK, Mrs Carol Tsang, Supreme Sponsor and representative of Billion Charity Fund, Dr Yeung Ming-biu, Supreme Sponsor and Chairman of Oriental Watch Holdings Limited and Mr Stewart Cheng, Diamond Sponsor of the event.  In the Tee-off Ceremony, Professor Fok expressed his gratitude towards alumni and friends for their unfailing support towards the Golf Day, making it a remarkable annual event in CUHK.

Professor Rocky Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, was thrilled to see a record high participation of alumni at the annual Golf Day with 65% golfers were alumni. This year marked the 55^th anniversary of CUHK. He was thankful to see such a strong and supportive alumni fraternity at the Prize Presentation Ceremony.

This year, the prestigious “CU Cup” went to the United College for three consecutive years, and “Chung Chi College Team (2)” was the winner of the “Oriental Watch Open Cup - Best Net” prize.  Alumni Mr Bibendum Leung and Ms Rebecca Liang won the “Billion Charity Fund Best Gross Prize (Men) and (Ladies)” respectively.  Please click here for the complete results of the tournament.

CUHK Golf Day Scholarship
Established in 2011, the “CUHK Golf Day Scholarship” is an admission scholarship for first-year undergraduates who achieved academic excellence and participated actively in voluntary services and sports activities. Financial needs of students will also be taken into consideration during the selection process.  A total of ten outstanding students were awarded the scholarship this year.

香港中文大學（中大）很榮幸獲廣東中博佛文化傳播研究院慷慨捐贈港幣七百二十萬元，與本校文學院合作成立「宗教倫理與中國文化研究中心」（中心），推動宗教倫理及中國文化研究發展，加強國際宗教界與學術界的全面合作和友好往來，並培育相關的研究人才。

中心開幕典禮於本年一月十六日（星期三）圓滿舉行，由廣東中博佛文化傳播研究院理事長兼執行院長許建華先生、副理事長劉敏軍先生、中大副校長張妙清教授以及文學院暫任院長兼中心共同主任賴品超教授主禮。此外，來自廣東中博佛文化傳播研究院、孔教學院、耶穌會中華省、香港基督教協進會、香港道教聯合會、香港佛教聯合會、嗇色園黃大仙祠、圓玄學院、香港伊斯蘭文化協會、思維靜院以及公教進行社等近一百位嘉賓共同見證中大文學院與廣東中博佛文化傳播研究院合作的成果，並出席隨後舉行的宗教倫理論壇。

張妙清教授在典禮上衷心感謝廣東中博佛文化傳播研究院對中大的信任，並期望中心能夠加強與國際宗教界和學術界的全面合作、深入宗教倫理與中國文化相關課題的研究，為培養宗教研究和文化弘揚的人才作貢獻。劉敏軍先生致辭時表示，很高興與中大合作成立研究中心：「我們堅信『天道酬勤』，相信在香港中文大學的正確指導和共同努力下，『宗教倫理與中國文化研究中心』一定能為香港的宗教文化注入一股新的力量。」賴品超教授表示中心的成立有助推動宗教倫理及中國傳統文化：「我相信中心不僅會在學術上成就卓越，更能促進宗教界的交流，甚至有助提升社會整體的道德倫理意識，造福人類社會。」

宗教倫理與中國文化研究中心

廣東中博佛文化傳播研究院與中大文學院合作成立「宗教倫理與中國文化研究中心」，旨在從事宗教倫理研究，推廣中國文化，並開展各項學術研究和文化活動，培訓香港及國內外有志於宗教倫理與佛教文化學習和研究者人士。中心計劃邀請國內外著名宗教學者前來中大作學術訪問和專題講座，與國內外著名大學和研究機構合作，推動中國傳統文化在國際上的傳播。
