Δ M r . Ha r o ld Ho, L e c t u r er in Social Wo r k, C h u ng C hi College, left for Saigon on A p r i l 29 to serve as a consultant on a c ommu n i ty development project there. T h e project, sponsored by the U . S. Agency for I n t e r n a t i o n al De v e l o pme n t, was completed on M a y 8. Δ M r . Bernard L u k H u n g K a y, a second-year H i s t o ry student of U n i t ed College and General Secretary of the H o n g K o n g Federation of Students, attended the I n a u g u r al Conference of the Association of Commonwealth Students in L o n d on f r om A p r i l 24 to A p r i l 29, as one of the t wo delegates f r om H o n g K o n g. A f t er the conference, M r . L u k visited the Secretariat of the I n t e r n a t i o n al Conference at L e i d e n, Ho l l a n d, and attended the Na t u r al Co u n c il of the Scottish U n i o n of Students in E d i n b u r gh as an observer. He returned to H o n g K o n g on M a y 10, 1967. Δ D r . R. D . D r i l o n, President of Central Philippines Un i v e r s i t y, and D r . M a r t i n Bernal of Camb r i d ge Un i v e r s i ty visited C h u ng Chi College in M a y . COLLEGE REPORTS Δ Memb e rs of the Board of Governors of C h u ng C h i College have been asked to make c o n t r i b u t i o ns of $5,000 each, the interest is to be used to award departmental prizes and medals to be named after t h em. T h e prizes are in the f o r m of book-tokens and w i l l be awarded to the best 3rd year student i n each department and the medals w i l l be awarded to those 4 th year students of any department who have attained a high standard. T h e College has received the f o l l ow i ng donations for the p r i z e s : 一 1. Mr. Watt Mo K i , memb er of the Board of Governors, $5,000 for Physics Prize. 2. The Hon. Y.K. Kan, Ch a i r man of the Board of Governors, $5,000 for prize f u nd of any department. 3. The Rev. H.H. Pommerenke, memb er of the Board of Governors representing the Commission on Ecumenical M i s s i on & Relations of the U n i t ed Presbyterian C h u r ch in the U . S . A ., $5,000 for Religious K n ow l e d ge and Philosophy Prize. 4. The Rev, and Mrs. P.L. Kan, $5,000 for Social W o r k Prize. 5. Mr. William Cheung, Ch a i rman of the Board of Directors, L o n d on Theatre, $15,000 for Sociology, Chinese Language & L i t e r a t u r e, and Chinese H i s t o ry prizes in memo ry of M r . Ch e u ng Kon Fong, father of M r . Cheung. Δ A t the i n v i t a t i on of the N ew Asia Student U n i o n, D r . Ch ' i en M u , f o r m e r president of N e w Asia College and n ow a memb er of the College Board of Governors, gave a lecture at the College on “ T h e Me a n i ng and Influence of the M a y 4th M o v e m e n t ." D r . Ch ' i en described the mo v eme nt in detail f r om a historical perspective. Over 200 students and staff of the College attended. Δ Professor H su F u K u a n, a noted scholar i n the fields of Chinese L i t e r a t u r e, H i s t o ry and Philosophy, has been appointed V i s i t i ng Professor w i t h the Research I n s t i t u te and the De p a r t me nt of Philosophy and Sociology of N ew Asia College. Professor Hs u, on leave f r om his chair w i th T u n g h ai Un i v e r s i ty in T a i wa n, w i ll stay here six mo n t hs and conduct courses in the H i s t o ry of the Philosophy of the Western and Eastern H an Dynasties, and in the P r e - Ch ' in Confucianists. Δ D r . S . W. T a m , L e c t u r er in Organic Chemistry, C h u ng Chi College, has published a paper on “Synthese on Gem i n al Me t h y l i e r t en 4 - C h l o r b u t y l am i n e n ”, in Helsetica Chimica A c t a, V o l 50. Δ M r . L e u ng Pak T o n g, a f o u r th year Ch em i s t ry student of U n i t ed College, has been awarded the Haystack Scholarship tenable at W i l l i ams College for the year 1967-68, T h e award is made under a cooperative p r o g r amme between W i l l i ams College and U n i t e d College. T h e scholarship offers US$ 2 , 5 00 annually to a deserving U n i t ed student to pursue his studies at W i l l i ams. Δ A first year student of the De p a r t me nt of H i s t o ry and Geography in C h u ng C h i College, M r . L u k e Sill K o n g K w o n g, is going to study at the Un i v e r s i ty of Redlands U . S. A ., this s ummer as an exchange student f r om the College. Δ M r . L a u Wa i - ma n, L e c t u r er in H i s t o ry at U n i t ed College, gave a talk on “ T h e Commo nwe a l th System in Chinese H i s t o r y” at the Rotary Island West weekly luncheon on May 12, 1967. A On Ma y 22 the C h u ng C h i Staff C l ub held a farewell tea party i n honour of those members leaving the service of the College this s umme r. On Ma r c h, 1967 issue of this Bulletin ( V o l . I I I N o . V I I I ) , D r S. C. Cheong's post at the School of Education, Un i v e r s i ty of Wisconsin (Page 5), should read "Assistant to Assistant D e a n " instead of “Assistant D e a n ”, an d “Professor H . M . Barrow F. R.
