Sharing Session on “From Giving to Gaining - A Reflection on Overseas Service Learning”
Many students may have hesitations when participating in overseas service trips: Can a week-long trip solve social issues in the local community? What is the correct attitude in communicating with the locals? To address these concerns, the I·CARE Social Service Projects Scheme of this Centre is going to hold a Sharing Session on “From Giving to Gaining - A Reflection on Overseas Service Learning”, with three student volunteer teams (which were funded by this scheme to carry out service learning projects in the Mainland, Cambodia and Nepal respectively) revealed their bittersweet experiences. Led by the veteran provider of overseas voluntary service, the teams will also discuss with participants on the meaning of overseas service and how to orientate the service trips amid the pandemic.
