I·CARE Hong Kong Cultural Tours Project: Exclusive Trips for CUHK Members





The I·CARE Hong Kong Cultural Tours Project, which has been conducted for years, aims to facilitate CUHK students’ discovery of Hong Kong stories and to offer free cultural tours to serve the needy. Both groups are expected to develop an enhanced sense of identification to this city.


The project of this academic year has already provided 14 CUHK students with professional training that covers introduction of designated districts, itinerary design, planning of tour routes and presentation skills, etc. They started earlier on offering theme-based cultural tours to secondary school students in groups to deepen their understanding of local history and culture.

Besides, two trips have been set aside for CUHK members only in next month. Details are as follows:


Funeral Customs and Development


Date: 18 June 2022 (Saturday)

Time: 2:00 - 4:30 pm

Assembly Time: 1:40 pm

Assembly Point: Hung Hom MTR Station

Tour Content: Participants will visit Hung Hom, the focal point of mortuaries and funeral businesses, to understand the customs and taboos of the related industry. The history and development of this industry will also be explored from the social, communal and personal perspectives, allowing participants to reflect on the relationship between a certain trade and the surrounding community.

Target: Undergraduate, full-time research postgraduate students, and staff

Fee: Free of charge

Aesthetics in Ancient and Modern Architecture


Date: 25 June 2022 (Saturday)

Time: 2:00 - 4:30 pm

Assembly Time: 1:45 pm

Assembly Point: Clock Tower, Tsim Sha Tsui

Tour Content: Participants will travel around Tsim Sha Tsui by setting off from the Clock Tower and walking northward to the 1881 Heritage, Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre, Kowloon Mosque and Chungking Mansions. They are able to learn the relationship between the architecture of the said premises and different ethnic groups in the area.
