A team of students from CUHK Faculty of Law won three prestigious awards based on its participation in the 2018 ICC Moot Court Competition held in The Hague from 27 May to 1 June. The team advanced to the elimination rounds and took prizes for Best Prosecution Team, Best Prosecution Memorial and won an oralist award for the individual advocacy accomplishments of LLB student Joshua Yeung. 

This year’s tournament saw over 70 teams competing from universities in 42 different countries located around the world.  The competition, which takes place in the capital city of international justice over the course of one week, is a large-scale moot simulating the proceedings of the International Criminal Court (ICC).  It brings together students of diverse backgrounds and cultures to test their skills as budding international lawyers.  This year’s problem centered on issues of human trafficking, transnational double jeopardy, and international criminal liability for corporations. 

Led by Prof. Gregory Gordon and assisted by third-year JD student Hoi Yi Lee, the team consisted of fourth-year LLB students Sean O’Reilly, Brian Choi, Jennifer Tse, and third-year LLB students Joshua Yeung and Jocelyn Pang.
