Biography

Professor Regina Lee has been an active academic and international researcher who led the research projects of school-based health promotion intervention to reduce health risk behaviours among school-age children and adolescents using randomised controlled trial study design and a multidisciplinary team approach in the Asia-Pacific region. As an advanced paediatric nursing practitioner and active researcher, Professor Lee has been striving to improve the physical health and mental wellbeing for children and adolescents, especially for those with developmental disabilities in the communities through servicing, advocacy, research, and health promotion programmes in the special schools.

Professor Lee implemented weight management programme for obese schoolchildren and collaborates with school teachers to implement school-based health projects that provide primary health care services including health education and promotion and disease prevention using a multidisciplinary and inter-sectoral approach in Hong Kong. Her research interest is in the areas of promoting unstructured play in the school playgrounds with mindfulness-based intervention on children’s play in early childhood to establish physical and psycho-social well-being during times of transition; delivering mindfulness-based intervention for children with gaming disorder; implementing mHealth interventions on weight management programme for overweight children and adolescents with disabilities; developing a simplified 5-step hand washing programme for students with intellectual disabilities; advancing role development of school nurses, and promoting healthy lifestyle behaviours and psychosocial well-being among children and adolescents using the National Association of School Nurses’ (NASN) Framework for 21st Century School Nursing Practice™.
