The Department of Philosophy is hiring lecturer(s)/senior lecturer(s). Applicants should have (i) a higher degree (a doctoral degree for Senior Lecturer rank; a Master’s degree or above for Lecturer rank) in Chinese philosophy; (ii) teaching experience in tertiary education; and (iii) competence to teach a wide range of courses. The successful candidate(s) will mainly teach a variety of courses as selected from the Department’s curriculum in general education courses, with opportunities to teach in our philosophy major program. We particularly look for candidates who are able/experienced to teach such courses as “Mainstream Chinese Philosophical Thought”, “Chinese Culture and its Philosophy”, “Outlines of Chinese Culture”, “An Introduction to Chinese Culture”, “Debates on Chinese Traditional Thought”, with the ability to design new courses in Chinese philosophy and/or to teach philosophy general education courses outside Chinese philosophy a plus.
The teaching load is 7 sections (including multiple sections of the same courses) a year. While research output is not required in the annual assessment, the successful candidate(s) is/are encouraged to conduct research, especially in the areas of their teaching assignments. Appointment will initially be made on a contract basis for two years commencing August 2023, renewable subject to mutual agreement. Salary offer will be competitive.
