The purpose of this course is to enable students to acquire the knowledge and skills in conducting programme evaluation for human service programmes. The course will examine programme evaluation as an integral part of professional practice within the human services, and will introduce students to the concepts and methods in conducting programme evaluation from the conceptualization stage to the outcome stage of human service programmes. Special topics such as cost-effectiveness analysis, cost-benefit analysis, development of performance indicators, statistical process control, benchmarking, re-engineering, single-subject designs, group designs, etc., will be discussed, and issues related to conducting programme evaluation for human services will be examined.
