This course aims to equip students with a systematic, humanistic, and integrative perspective when working with older people in interdisciplinary settings. Apart from providing students with information on the psychosocial, mental, economic, and health conditions of older people, this course introduces to students some major gerontological theories, policies and services (e.g. home-based services, community-based services, long-term care services and financial aids), with a focus on empowering older people. Also, current policy issues related to the advancement of betterment of older people will be critically examined and discussed.
