The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is ranked No. 10 worldwide and once again ranked No. 1 in Hong Kong in Computer Science in the recently released Best Global Universities Rankings by U.S. News & World Report’s 2022.
The Best Global Universities Ranking by U.S. News & World Report covers a total of 43 subject rankings and evaluates nearly 1,750 universities across more than 90 countries using over 10 performance indicators. The performance indicators include number of publications, total number of citations, global and regional research reputation, and international collaboration. Across all the ranking indicators and weights, CUHK is listed No.10 globally and No.1 in Hong Kong in Computer Science with an outstanding subject score of 85.8, maintaining its position among the top universities for Computer Science in the latest ranking report.
“We are delighted to be ranked No. 10 globally this year and once again No. 1 in Hong Kong in Computer Science by the Best Global Universities Rankings by U.S. News & World Report,” said Professor Martin D. F. Wong, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at CUHK. “This reaffirms CUHK’s position as one of the global leaders in computer science research and education. It is essential as computer science is the main driving force behind today’s 4th industrial revolution and digital economy. This recognition further motivates us to keep striving for excellence.”
With thirty years of history, the Faculty has built up its reputation for excellence in education and research. Many faculty members are among the best in their fields and are internationally recognised including Distinguished Professor-at-large Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, the recipient of the ACM A.M. Turing Award and Kyoto Prize in Advanced Technology.
Two unicorn companies specialising in artificial intelligence, SenseTime and SmartMore have their origins at CUHK further demonstrating the University’s excellence in fostering the computer science talents essential for creating lasting impact in the 21st century economy.
