This summer, four ELED Year 4 students (Bella Cheung, Oscar Ho, Erica Lau, and Stephanie Wu) took part in a meaningful research project led by Ms. Rose Wong – a clinical psychologist and current PhD student in the Department of Psychology.  The research aims to enhance autistic children’s motivation to express their verbal requests more actively by introducing them to a Cantonese Pinyin app.

During the training phase, our ELED students taught children to use the Pinyin app and helped carry out the experimental procedures.  They believed this was a valuable opportunity for them to learn to interact with autistic children and it was also a very rewarding experience to witness the progress made by the participants
