The Centre logo is dervied from the ancient Chinese Character "Shou", which means "leader".
The logo comes from an inscription found on an anzient bronze object in China and resembles an eye decorated with eyebrow paint. Its form resembles the markings associated with an ancient chief. Chiefs commonly applied paint in lines around their eyes to illuminate power and position. Although Chinese civilization has long been associated with civility and etiquette, ancient China was consituted by numerous tribes. In such times, politics were closely integrated with education and the chief was regarded as a teacher. The character of the word 'Shou' embodies strength, experience and teaching and, as such, captures the essence of leadership.

商周時代鐘鼎文的〔首〕字由眉眼處有化裝紋線的圖象顯示。在古代，每一位酋長面部眉眼處例必有條紋形化裝，以誇張其威武及表示其人身份的突出。中華民族發源雖早，又號稱是禮義之邦，但同樣是由野蠻步入文明，從部落分立而統一成泱泱大國的。尤其值得一提的是，上古時代的社會結構都是政教不分的，首領也是老師，所以香港教育領導發展中心用金文〔首〕字作為徽號，實在饒有意義。
