曾任约翰霍普金斯大学教育学院副教授。现任约翰霍普金斯大学客座教授及南京师范大学特聘讲座教授。研究范围包括国际教育、双语教育、学校整体改革、教育科技、阶层线性模式及统合分析,参与多个相关范畴的大型随机实验及研究。(联合)发表多篇论文、书章及研究报告,部份论文在著名学术期刊发表,如Review of Educational Research (RER)、Educational Research Review (ERR)、Journal of Educational Psychology (JEP)、American Educational Research Journal (AERJ)和Reading Research Quarterly (RRQ)。2008年在AERA期刊发表论文,获评选为最佳论文,荣获Palmer O. Johnson Memorial Award。2013年,他获中文大学颁发「卓越研究奖」。2018年,他获澳大利亚研究理事会(ARC)颁发Discovery International Award。曾在多个国家参与研究,包括英国、美国、中国、印度、新加坡、马来西亚、印度尼西亚、爱尔兰及墨西哥。任教科目:课堂与学校情景中的量化分析、香港教育政策、学校教育的架构与过程、香港教育制度及学校改进等教育议题。
