Academic Activities

Recapping the “Western Book History Workshop by Professor Stuart McManus” on 13 February 2019

On 13 February 2019, Prof. Stuart MCMANUS took the students of HIST4306 “The West and the World: Early Modernity” on a trip to the Rare Book Room of the CUHK Library to examine Western rare books. There, Ms. LI Lai Fong, Head of the Special Collections, and other library staff generously set out a selection of books (including works of Shakespeare, Galen, Confucius (translated in French), etc.) printed in Europe between 1492 and 1750. The students very much enjoyed the opportunity to examine real historical sources related Western history and Chinese-Western relations.
