Academic Activities

Recapping the “Workshops for the Final-Year RPg Students 2017–18” held on 12 January 2018

The Division of History organised the “Workshops for the Final-Year RPg Students”, offering an interactive sharing and exchange platform for the Department’s research postgraduate students to exchange and discuss their research findings. Prof. POO Mu-chou, Division Head, gave opening remarks to the Department’s research postgraduate students and visiting scholars.

 


Recapping the talk “Gamble and Gambling Farmers in Late Qing Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau” of the Lectures Series on “Comparative and Public History: In Search of Popular Culture in Hong Kong” delivered by Prof. HO Hon Wai of Academia Sinica at the Hong Kong Museum of History on 13 January 2018

Prof. HO Hon Wai gave a public talk and shared with an audience of over 150. The talk introduced several prevalent gambling items and their development in late imperial China. It also investigated the relationship between gambling merchants and officials.

Lecture Series on Comparative and Public History: In Search of Popular Culture in Hong Kong

The lecture series is co-organised by the MA Programme in Comparative and Public History, Department of History, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Museum of History. The following lectures will be held on Saturdays in January 2018 at the Lecture Hall, G/F, Hong Kong Museum of History:
