Sharing of our PhD Fellowship Awardees

HO Siu Ping Sammantha

With a vast repository of expertise, The Chinese University of Hong Kong has provided me with ample opportunities to further explore in the field of historical studies. In the course of my studies, I have benefited from student-centred education and academic diversity to acquire abilities to think critically and acquire insights into the historical trajectory of human societies. Moreover, with financial support from CUHK, I have gained precious experience in conducting research, which enables me to collect first-hand sources and participate in conferences held at different educational institutions. These are of paramount importance to the development of a junior researcher.

MA Xiaofei

I mainly focus on the intellectual and social history of Han China for my doctoral studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Under the guidance of my advisory committee, I have developed the necessary skills in historical research and expanded my expertise through rigorous training in my major and supporting fields. The language learning, various academic activities, and experience gained as a teaching assistant have further equipped me with practical abilities and unique insight. As an awardee of the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme, I have, over the past three years, attended several workshops and conferences held in Hong Kong and mainland China, co-authored a published scholarly monograph, and undertook research at the University of California (Berkley) for one semester under the Global Scholarship Programme for Research Excellence.
