Recapping the Academic Seminar “The Collation of Ming-Qing Legal Documents and the Situation of Chinese Legal History” conducted by Prof. CHIU Peng-sheng on 2 November 2018

Prof. CHIU Peng-sheng of the School of the Humanities, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, was invited by the Department to present a lecture to the Department’s postgraduate students.

Prof. CHIU noticed the significant historical value of legal archives when conducting research on the Ming-Qing economic history. In his lecture, Prof. CHIU introduced different types of legal archives and their use in research. He further gave a review of a number of research approaches used currently in the research of legal history of Ming and Qing dynasties.
