Congratulations to WU Sin Yan and WONG Pok Hon, awardees of the Hong Kong Youth Historian Award Scholarship Scheme

The Department’s undergraduate Year 1 students, WU Sin Yan and WONG Pok Hon were each awarded a prize under the 6th Hong Kong Youth Historian Award Scholarship Scheme and the 8th Chinese Historical Studies Essay Competition for Hong Kong Secondary School Students, jointly organised by the HKU Master of Arts in Chinese Historical Studies Alumni Association, Education Convergence and Sing Tao Daily.

Sin Yan and Pok Hon were interviewed by Sing Tao Daily and shared their views about Chinese History learning.

 


Briefing Session for Summer Internship Programme 2018

The Department of History has organised the Summer Internship Programme for its students since 2000. For the current year, 15 partner organisations in Hong Kong, the Mainland and Taiwan, which include government departments, publishers and museums, offer over 30 intern positions to History full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students (including the MA Programme in Comparative and Public History). Academic Activities

Recapping the talk “Looking at Animals in Hong Kong: From Circus Shows to Zoos” of the Lectures Series on “Comparative and Public History: In Search of Popular Culture in Hong Kong” delivered by Prof. POON Shuk Wah at the Hong Kong Museum of History on 27 January 2018

Prof. POON Shuk Wah gave a public talk and shared with an audience of 100 on the development of circus shows and zoos in Hong Kong and investigated the relationship between humans and animals. There were keen discussions and sharing on well-known circus shows and zoos in Hong Kong among the audience.
