Study Scheme

AApplicable to all students

I) Coursework Requirements

Students are required to complete a minimum of 24 units of courses for graduation.

 

1) Required Courses: 6 Units

  • HIST5011
  • At least 3 units must be chosen from
    • “Special Topics in Public History” or
    • “Special Topics in Comparative History”

2) Elective Courses: 18 Units

Any 18 units of courses to be chosen from the following:

  • Seminar courses:
    HIST6015, HIST6016, HIST6017
  • HIST5000-level courses
  • HIST4000-level courses
    • Subject to prior approval by the Programme Director and consent of the course instructors, students are allowed to choose up to 3 units of HIST4000-level courses in the undergraduate curriculum, and these will count towards minimum course units for graduation if they achieve a course grade of B- or above.

Total: 24 Units

 


II) Other Requirements

(a) Students must fulfill the Term Assessment Requirement. A student who obtains a cumulative grade point average (GPA) below 2.0 in the preceding term will be put on academic probation. For details, please refer to Clause 13.0 “Unsatisfactory Performance and Discontinuation of Studies” of the General Regulations Governing Postgraduate Studies which can be accessed from the Graduate School Homepage: http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/gss.

(b) Students must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0

 

Notes:

If a student completes 24 units of courses (3 units per course) and intends to study any additional courses, an additional course fee is applied. In 2022-23, the additional fee is HK$14,499 per course.
