Research Abroad Experience – Student Sharing

Kansai University

Cheung Cheuk Lam (2022 participant)

In the two months, I conducted research on palladium/copper-catalyzed difunctionalization of 2,3-dimethyl-1,3-butadiene with carboxylic acid and disilane, which gave me a general understanding of how an academic research project operates.

Through this exchange programme, I was able to experience the differences between local and international research environments, which provided me with new insights on my research of interest. Working in a completely new environment also allowed me to acquire new skills and knowledge. For example, I learned the way to operate some new instruments which I have not used them in CUHK before, including GPC, ESI-MS and APCI-MS. I also had vast opportunity to learn with peers with diverse background and culture.
