Prof. Bian Xiu-Wu, Director of Institute of Pathology and Southwest Cancer Center, Southwest Hospital, Third Military Medical University, Chongqing, China visited the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) on 30 March 2012. During the visit, Prof. Bian shared his scientific insights with our School members. He delivered a seminar on "Tumor-associated stem/progenitor cells and their contribution to tumor progression". He also met with Prof. Chan Wai-Yee, and members of the Stem Cell & Regeneration and the Cancer & Inflammation Programs to explore academic and research collaborative opportunities. Consequential to this meeting, Professor Bian is working with Professor Franky Chan, Chief of the Cancer & Inflammation Program on holding a joint conference in Sichuan in the last quarter of this year.
Prof. Bian's visit marked a flying start for our School in building up scholarly connections with the academia in southwest China.
