A 9-member delegation led by Prof. Yang Wei, President of Zhejiang University (ZJU), visited The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 20 December 2011 for further strengthening the academic connections between the two universities.
During the visit, Prof. Chan Wai-Yee, our School Director and Prof. Fung Kwok-Pui, in his capacity as the Director of the ZJU-CUHK Joint Laboratory on Natural Products and Toxicology Research, attended the ceremony of signing a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and of renewing three collaborative agreements between the two institutions. After the ceremony, Prof. Chan and Prof. Fung, together with all the ZJU delegation members and CUHK representatives, joined the lunch hosted by Prof. Joseph Sung, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK.
Earlier in April 2010, our School signed a MOU with ZJU for promoting research collaboration, exchange of academic and research personnel as well as training of postgraduate students. In mid 2011, a Post-doctoral Fellow was sent from ZJU to our School for a one-year attachment to a research laboratory. It is believed that following the conclusion of these new and renewed agreements, our School will play a more significant role in developing closer collaborative relationships with ZJU, particularly in terms of academic, research and personnel exchange.
