Biographical / Historical
鄧爾雅（1884-1954），廣東東莞莞城人，生於北京，後隨父親遷居江西。原名溥霖，字季雨，別名爾雅、萬歲。父親鄧蓉鏡。
1899 年鄧爾雅就讀廣雅書院，學習篆刻、書法和文字訓詁。1906 年前後，偕妻陳靈淑及長子鄧橘留學日本，攻讀美術。1911 年與潘達微等創辦《時報畫報》、《賞奇畫報》。1912 年與黃節等創辦「貞社廣州分社」。1914 年參加「南社」。1922 年旅居香港，於大埔築綠綺園居住。1926 年任香港「中華中學」教師，教授書法及文字學課程；參與組織「國畫研究會香港分會」，「藝觀學會」和「南社書畫社」。1927 年，妻子陳靈淑病殁。1931 年娶葉奕為妾。
鄧爾雅致力研究中國文字，精於篆刻及書法，愛琴如命，曾購得唐代名琴綠綺台。著作有《文字源流》、《漪竹園詩》、《鄧齋詩集》、《印雅》、《廢雅》、《鄧齋筆記》、《藝觚草稿》、《聯齋索隱》、《鄧齋印存》、《綠綺臺琴史》、《曹溪南華寺史略》、《印學源流及廣東印人》、《鄧齋印可（見於春秋報）》、《集唐宋詩聯》、《羅浮遊記殘禞》、《印媵》、《篆刻卮言》、《千文》、《碑別字》、《心經別字》、《鄧齋題畫詩》、《鄧齋印外》、《鄧齋印外敘初稿》、《印款》、《香東墨西冊》等。2004 年東莞市政協編輯《鄧爾雅篆刻集》，2007 年編輯《鄧爾雅詩稿》及《鄧爾雅臨《蘭亭序》真跡六種》。
